Leena Badhwar, MD
Leena has always been motivated to help people in need. She is Board certified in Internal Medicine and her primary goal has always been to establish strong rapport with her patients. Her broad skill set comes from being exposed to a variety of cultures and a multitude of clinical situations in variable settings. After completing medical school in India, she continued her education in the United States. Moving to New York for her internship, she relocated back to San Francisco to complete her Residency in Internal Medicine. Leena believes that an integrated approach is vital for overall wellness and has extensive experience in providing patient centered care and looks forward to serving as your partner in healthcare.
Leena was born and raised in New Delhi, India. She excelled academically and always had a passion for science which led to her pursuing a career in medicine. She enjoys hiking, reading, traveling and spending time with her two children and dog.
Saba Haq, MD
Healthcare has been in Saba’s blood since her youth. Her parents’ involvement in the oil industry took her around the world for the first 13 years of her life. She spent her wonder years in Southeast Asia and had a chance to see first hand the global need for quality healthcare. She returned with her family to Southern California during her high school years and began her career journey to become the first physician in her family.
Saba attended medical school at UCLA and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at UC Davis.
She has spent the last 18 years juggling a busy career and raising her children. Saba enjoys staying active with her family. Reading science fiction and playing the guitar are two of her favorite “me time” activities. She lives with her husband and kids in the heart of the Silicon Valley.
Akbar Zikria, DO
Akbar is a board certified family physician dedicated to helping his patient’s achieve the highest level of satisfaction with their health. He had done his residency at a community clinic in San Jose (CA) working with an underserved population and continued sharpening his clinical skills while working with a similar population for a few years after residency. The intricacies of insurance plans and coverages were at times difficult to decipher, however, Akbar welcomed the challenge and was driven in figuring out how to steer through these obstacles. This is a testament to his hard work and perseverance in making sure his patients receive the services they deserve.
Akbar has always enjoyed the diversity in the south bay area and has embraced it having found many lessons to be learned from the various cultures. Part of the reason behind this is due to his interest in learning languages and having grown up in an eastern culture himself; he speaks Farsi and Spanish in addition to English. He also finds having insight into a patient’s culture will ultimately help lead to clinical decision making that is most appropriate for that particular patient. Having trained at an osteopathic program for medical school, the holistic philosophy of medicine and strong understanding of the musculoskeletal system is engrained in him.
Leslie Luff, BSN, RN
Leslie is an experienced Registered Nurse with over 20 years of health care delivery experience. She began her career at Stanford Hospital where she worked as a staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist, physician liaison, and PACU nurse. She later gained experience in several specialities including cardiology, orthopedic spine, gastroenterology, internal medicine, and ambulatory surgery. Leslie brings her love of serving and caring for others to her role as the practice manager, responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of the health center. She will help ensure your visit to the health center combines the highest quality of care with an exceptional experience.
Leslie is a California girl who was born in Malibu and raised in Menlo Park where she still resides today. She finds great satisfaction in working with people to help them reach their full potential. She is an active mom who enjoys baking, pilates, tennis, and is a huge football and baseball fan! She can often be found helping with her daughter’s crew team or trying to keep up with her son on a dirt bike.
Nick is a result-oriented and goal-driven individual who is excited to continue his career in the health care field. He loves to stay busy and active, both at work and during his free time. Over the past few years, Nick has demonstrated his skillset in a number of different environments within the focus of physical rehabilitation. Due to having experience with both inpatient and outpatient facilities, he is used to working with a wide range of various personalities and ages. In his last place of employment, Nick worked as the Head Aide for a small team of physical therapists and assistants.
Nick was born and still lives in San Jose, CA. He attended high school at Bellarmine Preparatory and college at Sonoma State University. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree within the field of Kinesiology. During his free time, Nick enjoys spending time outside, live music, watching movies, and hanging with his dogs.
Keleigh is a hard working and dedicated individual that simply wants the best for those seeking care at Crossover Health. She finds that there is always something to be learned each day. Keleigh’s first day of college was also her first day of work and she has not stopped multi-tasking since. While working towards her degree, she worked in restaurants, volunteered with various organizations, worked onsite at a major tech company, and took on two internships. These experiences taught her the importance of time management and communication in various environments.
Keleigh was raised in a small town known as Grass Valley, CA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science with a Concentration in Health Services Administration from San Jose State University. She has two older brothers and thinks of her mom as her best friend. She values her family and friends with the highest regard and loves spending time with her black pug named Bear and her blue doberman named Blue. Her hobbies include traveling to various places and spending time in rivers, oceans and lakes.
Thao is an ambitious and highly motivated individual with attention to details. She is very punctual and able to perform in a fast paced environment where she is able to challenge herself. Being a float for Crossover for over a year, she has covered shifts at Apple, Facebook, and a few near sites.
A Bay Area native, Thao is born and raised in the city of San Jose. She attended California State University, East Bay where she majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. Upon completing a medical brigade in Nicaragua, her experiences have inspired her to pursue a career in the healthcare field. Her plans include working towards her goal of becoming a Nurse in Public Health where she can continue to fulfill her desire to help others.
Becca Fung, DPT, OCS
Becca received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California after obtaining her B.S. in Exercise Science from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist who enjoys engaging patients with a holistic approach. Being an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, California Physical Therapy Association and holding elected national and state level positions has allowed her to advocate for her patients in multiple avenues. She was named one of the American Physical Therapy Association’s 2015 “Emerging Leaders.”
Educating individuals about their injuries as a movement specialist while helping them reach their goals continue to be Becca’s primary purpose with each personal interaction with her patients. She enjoys constantly learning and loves the culture of collaboration and integrated care at Crossover. Becca has a certification in Prenatal & Postpartum Physical Therapy and loves empowering women during this phase of life.
She enjoys leading an active, healthy lifestyle while enjoying all the Bay area has to offer with her husband, Andrew and dog, Ryder.
Kate Gintoft, DPT
Kate is a passionate, enthusiastic physical therapist with many years of experience in the neurological rehab and orthopedics settings. She enjoys the intimate process of revealing biomechanical faults that might predispose to injury, using manual techniques to improve passive alignment and creating an individualized exercise program to get people back to doing what they love quickly. Kate has participated in numerous community outreach programs including developing a strength and conditioning program for a local ultimate frisbee team and performing injury screenings and run assessments for high school athletics. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and completed a residency in Orthopedic Manual Therapy through the Ola Grimsby Institute in 2014.
Kate is originally from New Jersey and attended graduate school at the University of Miami. She moved to California in 2011 and loves the west coast because it allows her to participate in all of her favorite activities. In her free time, Kate enjoys hiking, skiing, mountain biking and playing ultimate frisbee.
Rachel Combs, LAc
Rachel was born and raised in Reno, Nevada and has made Santa Cruz her long time home. She obtained her Bachelors of Science from UC Santa Cruz and later earned her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University also in Santa Cruz. Rachel’s health care philosophy is firmly rooted in compassion and cultivated by a love of modern and ancient medical knowledge. Rachel’s clinical expertise in the safe and effective use of acupuncture techniques is matched by her previous experience working in an integrated care environment. She believes this is the best environment to help patients get well and stay healthy.
Rachel’s life philosophy includes giving back, and she regularly teaches on topics like mind / body balance and stress reduction while still volunteering free acupuncture services for organizations like Women Care and Santa Cruz Homeless Shelter. She has a strong love of nature, friends and family with the resulting belief that being outdoors is an important addition to a balanced, happy, and meaningful life.
Irwin Tjiong, LAc
Irwin bridges the gap between the corporate, medical, and human services worlds with his diverse set of complementary skills and experiences. He values translating Eastern medical philosophy and practices to Western audiences to better address the ailments of today’s workforce. Raised by MD parents in the Netherlands, Irwin’s early upbringing centered on nurturing the body, mind, and spirit with curiosity, compassion, and balance. Firmly rooted in these beliefs – and having earned a Master’s in Business Administration – he has branched out to live and work for software and financial corporations across Asia, Europe, and the United States.
After assisting in the 2004 Asian Tsunami relief efforts, Irwin transitioned to the healing arts, earning a Master’s in Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is a nationally and California licensed acupuncturist and has served on the Board of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM). He is currently a member-at-large of the 2020 Bay Area Task Force of the American Heart Association and lives in El Cerrito with his wife and 2 – very young – children.
Taylor Griffith, DC
Taylor Griffith is a board certified Doctor of Chiropractic devoted to providing a high level of care to each patient. Dr. Griffith is a genuine and passionate provider that uses a variety of techniques and the latest research to optimize one’s health. His clinical approach is strongly focused on patient centered care with an emphasis on improving the individual’s mobility and function. His goal is to have patients leave with a greater knowledge of their dysfunction or injury and give them the tools to help them prevent further injury.
Dr. Griffith was raised in the Pacific Northwest where he attended Western Washington University and received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. He then moved to Northern California to attend Life Chiropractic College West where he received his Doctorate in Chiropractic. As an avid athlete himself, Taylor values the ability to return to what you love doing through the best care possible as fast as possible. When he isn’t helping people move better he enjoys lifting weights, cycling, yoga, and hiking with his mini-labradoodle Koa.
Gigi McGill is Neuromuscular Massage Therapist and enjoys customizing sessions for her patients. She has worked with patients with past injuries, chronic pain due to emotional or physical stress, migraines, headaches, and vertigo. She enjoys educating clients of the benefits of regular therapeutic massage and as a part of this; she gives her patients guided plans in place so that the results can help heal chronic issues. Gigi specializes in different modalities such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, facilitated stretching, pre and
post natal massage.
Outside of the clinic Gigi loves to travel, spend time with family and volunteer at Stanford hospital with cancer patients. Gigi also likes to make her own vegan and holistic body and health care products that she uses in her sessions at her private practice.
Brendon Rearick, CFSC
Brendon’s personal mission is to spread the positive by-products of coaching and movement as far as he can using strength and conditioning as his platform. As a member of the Crossover team, he plans to continue on this mission along with working toward his new goal of making physical activity the most commonly prescribed ‘drug’ in the world!
With a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Brendon got his start at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning (MBSC) in Woburn, MA. The growth-focused environment at MBSC motivated Brendon in a way he had never experienced. Over a few short years he progressed to become the Program Director, got his massage therapy license, and later opened a massage business with his business partner Kevin, Movement As Medicine. Soon thereafter, he started an education company with four co-workers – Certified Functional Strength Coach. In just three years, CFSC has certified over 3,000 trainers in over 20 countries.
Now a three-year California resident, Brendon continues to grow Movement As Medicine, travels and coaches often for Certified Functional Strength Coach, and has recently become an active speaker at the Perform Better summit conferences held four times annually.
With an inexhaustible drive to learn more, practice his craft, and be the best version of himself, Brendon dedicates his free time to continuing education, dancing with his 3-year old daughter, reading, writing, and enjoying in the outdoors.
Fun facts: Just this year, Brendon has read over 100 books and has swam off the coasts of five different continents.
Michelle Spoelstra, PsyD
Dr. Michelle Spoelstra is a licensed clinical psychologist, with over twelve years in the mental health field. Dr. Spoelstra has spent the last 7 years in both university mental health, as well as private practice. Her areas of expertise include working with depression, anxiety, relational issues, work/life balance, life transitions, stress management and strengthening self-care. She is passionate about providing supportive, holistic care to her clients. Her work is rooted in the belief that each client has a unique set of gifts, abilities and strengths, which can be harnessed in the process of personal growth. Michelle received her B.A. degree in both Psychology and History from Westmont College. She received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys being with family and friends, whether it be baking, cooking, hiking, relaxing or enjoying the greater Bay Area. She also loves to travel and experience new cultures and traditions, and tries to venture out regularly, whether to a new town or a new country.
Brittany Murray, MPH
Brittany has a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that she looks at how all areas of your life are connected. Brittany will help you navigate the world of contradictory nutrition and health advice in order to determine what choices are beneficial for you. She acknowledges that people tend to hang onto what they know and what has given them a sense of safety. Brittany was born and raised in New Jersey. She attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C where she earned a Masters in Public Health. Brittany is the middle child of a very close knit family which she considers her best friends and misses them all being in New York. In her spare time, she loves to workout, attend yoga classes, cook and anything that involves the beautiful California weather.
Fazila Malik, OD
Dr. Fazila Malik graduated from UC Davis and completed her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from UC Berkeley. She has trained at the VA hospitals in Miami, FL and Portland, OR as well as at OMNI Eye Services, a tertiary ophthalmology practice. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and The California Optometric Society; she is certified to treat glaucoma and a variety of other eye medical conditions.
Dr. Malik is a native of the Bay Area and currently resides in the Peninsula with her husband and son. She is enjoying the adjustment to life as a new mom and enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She has recently become interested in cooking and strives to be the hostess with the mostest!
Anastasia has a gift for relationship building which she has honed in a variety of clinical settings over her working experience. In her role as host, Anastasia is the first person to greet you and help you feel welcome as you begin the care experience. She also helps with any patient service issues, including coordinate appropriate follow up. She was fortunate to work and gain experience while in various medical clinics ranging from a surgery office to a physical therapy clinic. Anastasia is a San Francisco native and a graduate of St. Mary’s College of California.
Anastasia loves San Francisco and continues to enjoy exploring and finding hidden gems the the city has to offer. She has a goal to visit every stadium in the NFL and MLB. She has a passion for sports, including both the Giants and 49ers. She previously served as a 49ers Fan ambassador where she provided game day customer service for 5 seasons. When not working she enjoys traveling and hanging with friends and family.
