Thomas is a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist with extensive training in integrated behavioral healthcare, psychological testing, and diagnosis/treatment of behavioral health difficulties. He has expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrates techniques from other cognitive/behavioral modalities including DBT and ACT. Dr. Recine utilizes a collaborative approach to treatment, and incorporates a passion for working with his patients to identify measurable, attainable steps to achieve their goals, and to alleviate the impact of a variety of stressors in their lives. He has considerable experience working with patients to treat depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use. He is also well-versed in assisting his patients with identifying potential lifestyle/behavior changes and building cognitive and behavioral skills to better manage problems such as chronic pain, insomnia, chronic fatigue, smoking cessation, chronic illness, and overall stress management.
Dr. Recine earned his BA from Hofstra University and then completed a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Pace University before moving to Florida to complete his Doctor of Psychology at Florida Institute of Technology. During his doctoral training he concentrated on the integration of physical health as it relates to overall mental health. Once he returned to New York, he completed a one year APA accredited internship with the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System in Montrose, NY. At the VA, Dr. Recine also received training in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma. Throughout his training and professional experiences, Dr. Recine has worked with a variety of patients in settings ranging from primary care clinics, inpatient psychiatric/medical hospitals, substance rehabilitation, and forensic settings. More recently, Dr. Recine worked with the New York Police Department where he completed pre-employment psychological evaluations and provided on-call psychological services/trauma debriefing to active law enforcement.
Dr. Recine was born and raised in Westchester County, NY, where he currently lives with his wife. He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking (especially Italian food), traveling, and dabbling in various fitness routines.
