Know More Than Your Numbers: The True Value of Biometric Screenings

At Crossover Health, we’re always looking for better ways to help our clients address the most pressing health challenges affecting their employee populations. One area showing remarkable promise is the use of GLP-1 and other incretin medications. Initially developed for diabetes management, these medications are now also transforming how we approach chronic conditions like obesity, cardiovascular disease, and more. While GLP-1s offer exciting opportunities for improving outcomes, the real challenge and opportunity is integrating them into a holistic, cost-effective, and sustainable care strategy.

The “Know Your Numbers” campaigns over the last two decades have increased health literacy, led to earlier detection of chronic diseases, and empowered individuals to take charge of their health. For employers, biometric screenings are a foundational part of preventive health strategies. But the real value of these screenings goes beyond the data and knowing numbers: they become transformative when paired with a care model that turns insight into action.

Biometric screenings are short, clinical assessments that measure key health indicators like blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, and BMI. In just 15–20 minutes—often right at the workplace—employees can complete a screening that includes:
• Height and weight measurements
• Blood pressure reading
• Blood draw or finger-stick for lab work

Results are typically shared onsite or within days. On their own, these numbers provide a snapshot of health, but without support, they rarely lead to meaningful change.

Too often, biometric data is handed off to employees with little follow-up. Unless they independently seek care, the opportunity to intervene early may be lost. Risks for chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension can go unaddressed, ultimately leading to worse outcomes and higher costs.

At Crossover Health, biometric screenings are not standalone events—they’re the starting point for proactive, personalized care. When employees “know their numbers,” so does the Crossover Health Care Team. Our interdisciplinary model combines Primary Care, Physical Medicine, Mental Health, Health Coaching, and Care Navigation to turn numbers into action.

When screening results are reviewed by our Care Team with our members, risks that were identified can be reviewed and a care plan can be created. Whether it’s managing pre-diabetes, improving blood pressure, or addressing stress and mental health, our team ensures timely, coordinated intervention.

Unlike traditional wellness programs where employees are left to navigate next steps alone, Crossover’s integrated approach embeds biometric data into ongoing care. This leads to higher employee engagement, earlier identification and intervention for at-risk individuals, lower healthcare costs, and improved productivity and satisfaction. By making biometric screenings part of a larger Advanced Primary Care strategy, employers can move from passive wellness to active health management.

Biometric screenings are only as effective as the system supporting them. At Crossover Health, we turn numbers into action. We help employees take the right next step—not someday, but right away. In today’s workplace, connected care isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s a strategic imperative for long-term health, retention, and cost savings.
